Bushehr Nuclear Plant Shaken by Quake on the National Day Marking Innovation in Nuclear Technology

Around 16:22PM, a series of earthquakes reaching the strength of a 6.3 magnitude rattled the Kaki region in the state of Bushehr in Southern Iran. The effect was felt throughout the state and neighboring areas causing people to panic and run into the streets.

According to some reports, communications have been disrupted including phone and internet service.

The earthquake coincides with the Islamic Republic National Day of Innovation in Nuclear Technology. It is feared that the Bushehr plant may follow in the footsteps of the Chernobyl disaster.
