Iran Human Rights, April 16: According to the official website of the Iranian Judiciary in Fars Province (southern Iran) 9 prisoners were hanged in Shiraz today Tuesday April 6. Six of the prisoners were hanged in public and the other three prisoners were hanged in the Adel Abad prison of Shiraz.
The prisoners were all convicted for “moharebeh” through armed robbery. According to the report four of the prisoners identified as (Gh, N), (A, H,N), (M, Z) and (B, D) belonged to a four-member robbery band, and two main actors of a three-member robbery group that identified as (M, H, A), (B, A), (N,P) were executed at three different spots of Shiraz at 6 AM, 9AM and 1 PM today. the prisoners were convicted of "moharebeh" through armed robbery.
Three other prisoners who were not identified by name, were hanged in the Adebabad Prison of Shiraz, convicted of armed robbery and rape.
According to Iran Human Rights’ annual report on the death penalty in 2012city of Shiraz and province of Fars had the highest number of public executions in this year.
The deputy prosecutor general of Revolutionary Courts in Fars Province was among the individuals who were put on EU’s sanction list earlier this year.
