Persons engaged in smuggling drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan detained

Operations conducted by the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan identified persons engaged in drug trafficking, the Ministry's public relations department told Trend on Wednesday.

According to information, a total of 15 kilograms of drugs were seized from 11 people.

Thus, Azerbaijani citizen Ilgar Gasimov was detained as a result of operational activities. It was found that being in cahoots with the Iranian citizen Hafiz, he smuggled 1.7 kg of marijuana from Iran to Azerbaijan.

Another Azerbaijani citizen Alimamedov Nazim was detained with 120 grams of drugs.
As a result of another operation by the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan Telbein Salmanova and Samir Kalov were detained. They have entered into a criminal relationship with some Iranian citizen Salamat and smuggled 627.96 grams of heroin from Iran to Azerbaijan.

Another operation ended with the detention by the Ministry of Azerbaijan of Azerbaijani citizens Rauf Dzhalilov, Samir Fattayev and Jalal Seyfullaev. It was found that they knowingly entered into a criminal relationship with the citizens of Iran Khurshud and Babak and delivered 1.9 kg of cannabis and 0.98 grams of opium to Azerbaijan.

On April 28, the car inspection resulted in detention of citizens of Azerbaijan Teyyar Abbasov, Parviz Musazade and Elkhan Abbasov with 9.3 kg of marijuana and 581.51 grams of heroin. It has been established that they have entered into a criminal relationship with a citizen of Iran Tevekkyul, and smuggled these drugs from Iran for the sale on the territory of Azerbaijan.

As a result of joint operational activities of the Ministry of National Security and the Federal Service for Drug Control of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijani citizen Jafarov Dzhoshgun was detained at the Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow with 477 grams of heroin.

Criminal cases have been initiated on all the aforementioned matters, and the investigation is underway.
