Monday 27 May 2013Khamenei: US had better clean blemishes from Guantanamo
TEHRAN, May 27 (MNA) – Khamenei says those objecting to Iran election have Guantanamo prison and drones over Pakistan and Afghanistan as blemish on their face. Mehr News quoted the official website of Khamenei reporting that the graduation ceremony of Imam Hussein (as) Military Academy students had been held with Khamenei attending today (Monday) morning. Ayatollah Khamenei described the ‘epic action,’ and ‘giant step’ forward by the Iranian people in the presidential elections in June 14 as forerunner of greater achievements for the Revolution and the Islamic system. “With help from God, the tomorrow for the country and people will be bright, with dignity, and a model for all,” the Leader said. “We do not know who would be elected as president, and God would guide the hearts of the people in the direction of which candidate. But know that a high turnout by the nation, which is their laud statement of presence and moving rapidly in the path to the nation’s ideals, definitely, will bring about dignity, honor, security, and rejoice for friends and consternation for the enemies,” he added. Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to propaganda by the enemies of the Iranians in order to dishearten the nation in the elections. “They launch propaganda because if the people show a great turnout in the elections, this would prove costly for the stubborn enemies,” he added. He also pointed to the recent remarks by the US officials on Iran’s elections. “Those objecting to Iran election mechanism have Guantanamo prison and drones over Pakistan and Afghanistan and their full support for the criminal Zionist regime is a source of ignominy and as blemish on their face,” Khamenei said. “For 34 years, the front of the obstinate enemy whenever Iran holds election, they launch propaganda, and always are defeated by Iranian people, and this time again, they will be defeated by Iranians,” asserted the Leader. He called people for scrutiny in the statements and actions of the candidates. “People should vote for whom work for national esteem, resistance against enemies, would have the capability to solve the problems, which would work for making Iran a model for world oppressed,” he continued. Ayatollah Khamenei addressed the candidates with some recommendations. “The honorable candidates should lead their campaign with excitement and passion, but avoid challenging others,” the Leader said. “the delicacy of the situation is that campaign atmosphere should enjoy passion, dynamism, and hot debates, but it should be free of hatred and hatemongering,” he added, and that “people would judge the candidates by their manners in campaign and how they spend campaign money, and candidates who use dubious money or public money would not win the trust of the people.” Khamenei emphasized that in slogans, candidates should not show green lights to enemies overseas and even inside the country, since the enemy had worked to dissuade people in the election, and unfortunately some vicious tongues, pens, and moths reiterated their words inside the country.
