Iran is building a new submarine based on an Iranian design, Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Navy, Rear Admiral Gholam Reza Khadem Biqam announced on Saturday, the Fars news agency reported. The “Fateh submarine is currently under construction by the Iranian defense ministry,” Khadem Biqam said.
The submarine will weigh 600 tons and will be armed with sonar and a torpedo firing system. It will be able to reach depth of 200 meters and remain their for up to five weeks (Ynet)
