Mohsen Rahmani released from Evin prison

Committee of Human Rights Reporters – Mohsen Rahmani, Green student activist was released from prison on July 21st after spending 50 days behind bars.

According to news provided to CHRR, Mohsen Rahmani, an IT student, was detained by Intelligence forces after he held up a picture of Mir Hossein Mousavi at a rally for the Rouhani presidential campaign. He was held in Ward 209 of Evin prison and was finally released on bail after undergoing severe physical and psychological pressure.

Mohsen Rahmani was arrested along with a number of other activists on June 1st, while participating at a rally for Rouhani’s presidential election campaign. They were all singing slogans in support of the detained Green movement leaders while holding their pictures. A number of the other Green activists were also arrested and released a few weeks later, including Saeed Allah Badashti, Mohammad Parsi, Shirin Mirkermi.

Mohsen Rahmani was held in cell 92 at Ward 209 of Evin prison, which is under the jurisdiction of the IRGC. During the past few weeks there have been reports of visible signs of severe torture on his body.
