HRANA News Agency – The branch 6 of Eastern Azerbaijan provincial appeal court confirmed the six months imprisonment verdict of Arash Mohammadi, the leftist student activist imprisoned in Tabriz prison. According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Arash Mohammadi was sentenced to six months of imprisonment on July 10, 2013 by judge Bagherpour in branch 3 of Tabriz revolutionary court on charge of propagating against Islamic regime of Iran with two other student activists. Naghi Mahmoudi the lawyer and human rights activist told HRANA reporter “Arash Mohammadi and his brother were arrested once more on November 3, 2011 and sentenced to one year of imprisonment after 66 days of being under arrest. On Septemeber 15, 2012 he was arrested in terms of the verdict enforcement and finally on January 10, 2013 has been released conditionally from Tabriz prison. Thereby he has to spend one year imprisonment.” This verdict has not been delivered neither to Arash Mohammadi nor his lawyer, Mr. Fatemeh Sattari and has been sent directly to branch 11 of sentence enforcement of Tabriz justice. Arash Mohammadi and Amir Nazeri, the student activists were arrested with a group of university students of Tabriz on June 15, 2013 due to the gatherings after the presidential election by IRGC agents. Amir Nazeri was released after two days on a 10 million tomans bail but Arash Mohammadi has been kept under arrest in the financial ward of Tabriz prison due to a temporal detention warrant. |
