US State Department Spokeswoman Jen Psaki spoke about American sanctions on Iran, and said the US was not easing sanctions. When asked about introducing new sanctions, she said it's important to take under consideration potential progress in talks and that the US is trying to see if negotiations can be promoted.
The American government is in negotiations with Congress to prevent harsher sanctions being introduced before the six powers meeting with Iran in Geneva. Secretary of State John Kerry will arrive Thursday to coordinate strategy with Congress. (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)
