Saturday 08 March 2014Enemy Seeking to Win Iranians' Heart through Media
TEHRAN (FNA)- Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari warned against the new wave of enemies' soft warfare against Iran. “In soft war, onslaughts are mainly aimed at penetrating and finding a place in the hearts of the people through the media,” Major General Jafari said in Tehran on Saturday, and further called for IRGC’s preparedness to confront such threats. Major General Jafari said that the enemies intend to get rid of the Islamic Revolution through different plots. “Their last attempt was exerting economic pressures, but we saw how miraculously as the pressures increased, the people’s support for the revolution also increased,” he said. "Thus," he said, "the IRGC should not confine itselt to defense and military issues." "The main threat to the Islamic Revolution is the soft threat posed in various fields of culture, society and politics, which was described by the Supreme Leader as cultural ambush (of the enemy)." The top commander further underlined that clerics and the IRGC members should run this battle alongside each other. In similar remarks earlier in the day, Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan also warned that the US and its western allies have hatched different plots to weaken the Muslim world, specially through soft warfare. “Today, the Americans have embarked on direct or indirect confrontation against the Muslims and therefore in many countries, the Muslims have faced cruelty and oppression and are living under very hard conditions,” Pourdastan said in Tehran. “The US confronts Muslims indirectly through soft war and it has hatched long-term plots for cultural confrontation against Muslims,” he warned, asking Muslim nations to be vigilant against Washington's schemes. In relevant remarks in 2012, Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said that insulting the Islamic values is part of the enemy's soft war against Muslims. Given the enemies' tactic in restoring soft war against Muslims, Jafari said, "In this soft war insulting the Muslim sanctities is also on the top of agenda notwithstanding the fact that perpetrators of such crimes will face the fury of Muslims." Major General Jafari pointed out that the enemies have targeted the beliefs and faith of the people through "soft war against us, specially the younger generation". |
