Responses to Human Rights Abuses in Iran

1. Last week, more than 160 human rights defenders around the world, in a letter addressed to Sadegh Larijani requested the release of Bahareh Hedayat, Maryam shafiepour, and the other women who were human rights defenders and are imprisoned in Iran.

2. On 11th of March, Shahrokh Zamani a labour activist who is imprisoned in the ward 12 of the Rajayi shahr prison has been suddenly transferred to the Ghazal Hesar prison in Karaj and since then has been on hunger strike.

3. In their monthly report, the Human Rights Defenders criticized the state officials regarding their objections towards the United Nation Secretary-General and pointed out that prevention of political prisoners from leave during Norouz by the Supreme Court is another evidence of dire human rights situation in Iran.

4 .On Monday 24th March 2014, 581 lawyers wrote two separate letters to Mohammad-Sadegh Aameli-Laarijaani, the head of the judiciary, and called for an immediate investigation into the offences that have occurred on the court files of imprisoned Gonabadi Dervishes.

5. On Monday 27th March 2014, the Amnesty International published a statement, expressing their concerns over the imminent executions of Ahwazi-Arab prisoners called Ali Chabishaat and Seyyed Khaaled Mousavi.

The rights of ethnic and religious diversity in Iran

1. According to the reports, on Tuesday 18 March two Arab prisoners namely Ali Chabishat and Seyed Khalid Mousavi were transferred from Dezfoul Prison to an unknown location.

On Tuesday 18th March Syed Khaled (Yassin) Mosavi 36-year-old, Ali Chebishat, 49 years old, two Arab political prisoners from Shoosh city who had been sentenced to death, has been moved to an undisclosed location from Dezful prison. In the wake of this transition, concerns have been raised on the possibility of the imminent execution of the two prisoners.

3. Furthermore, Reza Shahabi Zakarya a labour activist and a political prisoner in the ward 350 whom for the treatment of spinal problem was in hospital outside the prison, despite opposition from his doctors was returned to the Evin prison.
