Sunday 13 April 2014Official: Iran to Build 6 Refineries in Indonesia
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran plans to build half a dozen oil refineries in the Southeast Asian country of Indonesia, a senior energy official announced on Sunday. "A joint Iran-Indonesia consortium will take charge of the construction of these refineries," Head of Oil Products Exporters Union Hassan Khosrojerdi told FNA. He noted that the total refining capacity of these oil refineries will stand at 300,000 barrels per day. "A heavy oil refinery with the daily production capacity of 150,000 barrels of oil and five smaller refineries with daily production capacities of 30,000 to 50,000 of barrels of gas condensates will be constructed," he explained. Late in January, Iranian and Indonesian officials, in a meeting in Jakarta, underlined the need for the further expansion of mutual cooperation in the field of modern energy resources. During the meeting, member of Iran-Indonesia Parliamentary Friendship Group Seyed Hashem Banihashemi and Indonesian Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Susilo Siswoutomo explored avenues for reinvigorating and bolstering bilateral ties, specially in energy fields. The Iranian lawmaker said oil refinery and dam construction and converting refineries’ fuel from diesel to combined fuel are among those areas Iran was interested to cooperate with Indonesia. |
