Two Prisoners Hanged in Southern Iran

Iran Human Rights, April 13, 2014: Two prisoners were hanged in the prison of Bandar Abbas (southern Iran), early this morning reported the Iranian state media. According to Hormuznews, the prisoners were identified as “A. M.” and “M. A.” and were convicted of murder and armed robbery and murder respectively.

Since 2013 there has been a dramatic increase in the number of implemented “qesas” verdicts in Iran. According to the annual report on the death penalty in Iran, the number of executions for murder in 2013 was eight times higher than the numbers in 2012.
