Iran defeated defending champion Russia in the final match of the 2014 FILA Greco-Roman World Cup in Tehran, capital of Iran. The Iranian wrestlers beat Russia 6-2 in Tehran's full-packed Haftom-e Tir Hall on Friday.
Azerbaijan defeated Armenia 6-2 in the bronze medal match.
Iran defeated Azerbaijan (8-0), South Korea (7-1), Finland (8-0) and Armenia (5-3) in the group stage.
Russia also defeated Hungary, Turkey, Kazakhstan and USA in the group stage.
"I congratulated all Iranians on winning the championship and I dedicate the title to them," head of Iran's Wrestling Federation Rasoul Khadem said.
