2 political prisoners transferred to hospital

HRANA News Agency – 2 political prisoners of Rajai Shahr prison have been transferred to a hospital.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Hassan Taffah, 85 years old, is suffering from blood cancer and arthritis in the neck was transferred to the hospital on Wednesday May 15, however he was sent back to the prison after 24 hours without getting proper medical treatment.

The authorities had shackled and handcuffed him to the bed.

“Hassan Taffah is not even able to stand up, nevertheless the authorities shackled and handcuffed him and had a very insulting behavior toward him. When he protested at this behavior the authorities took him back to the prison.” Said an informed source

Hassan Taffah had been arrested in 2009 and sentenced to 15 years in prison by the branch 15 of the revolutionary court of Tehran on charge of espionage and spreading propaganda against the regime.

Amanullah Mostaqim one of the imprisoned staff members of the Bahai Open University (BIHE) in Iran, has been also transferred to a hospital outside Rajai Shahr prison at the same day.

Mr. Mostaqim suffers from serious heart problems and has had coronary surgery.

In recent months he has been moved back and forth between prison, hospital, and medical furlough. He began serving a five-year sentence for educating excluded groups on 20 May, 2013, in Evin prison, but was soon transferred to Rajai Shahr prison.
