Ceremony for Ayatollah Taheri turns violent

A ceremony in Isfahan to mark the anniversary of the passing of Ayatollah Taheri became violent when a group of plainclothes forces attacked the people in attendance.

The Kaleme website reports that Ayatollah Taheri’s followers had invited people to attend the anniversary of his passing from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday June 3 at his grave in Isfahan cemetery.

Ayatollah Jalaleddin Taheri, the late Friday Mass Imam of Isfahan, was considered a supporter of reformists in Iran.

The attack reportedly happened after the gatherers began chanting “Ya Hosein! MirHosein!” in support of opposition leader MirHosein Mousavi, who has been under house arrest together with his wife Zahra Rahnavard since February 2011.
