Seeking information on Jason Rezaian, Yeganeh Salehi, and Maryam Rahmanian, three international journalists who were arrested in Tehran on July 22, 2014, has become impossible as their names do not appear anywhere in Iran’s Judiciary, a source close to the families told the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran.
“Their names have not been registered with the Prosecutor’s Office or the Judiciary which means these journalists have been abducted, not arrested,” the source added.
Since their arrest, Jason Rezaian and Yeganeh Salehi have both made brief phone calls to their relatives, but did not give information about their condition.
Jason Rezaian is a reporter for the Washington Post, his wife Yeganeh Salehi writes for The National in the UAE, and Maryam Rahmanian is a photographer. Rahmanian’s husband, Vahid, was also arrested with the three journalists.
The Campaign has learned that there have been other arrests in this case but this has not yet been confirmed by independent sources.
During the raid on Rezaian and Salehi’s home, security forces ransacked their house and confiscated their personal items, including computers, books, and notes.
