HRANA News Agency – About ten people were executed today at Ghezelhesar Prison altogether.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), in the morning of August 17th, 2014 more than 14 inmates from units 1 and 2 at Ghezelhesar Prison in Karaj were transferred to the execution chamber at prison. However, it is not clear how many of these inmates were hanged considering the 11 space limit of execution chamber at prison, although reports confirms the execution of minimum 10 and maximum of 14.
There is no information about the identity and the execution method used for these people but attempts for carrying out the sentences resulted to a riot in the prison and also prisoners’ familys’ protests outside the prison. The riot resulted in a number of injuries and casualties of inmates.
