Saeed Haeiri has been released from prison

HRANA News Agency – Saeed Haeiri, student activist was released from Evin prison, after serving his two years in prison sentence.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the leftist student activist was arrested in Enghelab square, on December 20, 2009, while he and his friends intended to attend in funeral ceremony of Ayatollah Montazeri. After 80 days in ward 209 in Evin he was released on 1000 million Iranian Rials bail. In September 2010 he was tried in branch 26 of revolutionary court of Tehran with chief judge Pirabbasi and sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison and 74 lashes, on charge of collusion and threating the national security. This sentence was reduced to two years in branch number 54 of appeal court.

He reside himself to prison on December 13, 2012 and was deprived of having furlough during the whole 2 years.

Saeed Haeiri has studied western philosophy and was deputy of committee for defense civil rights, in Mehdi Karroubi’s campaign in 2009 presidential election. He was also a member of the committee of human rights reports of Iran. He is also a victim of the raid of prison forces to prisoners (black Thursday) on April 17.
