Authorities in Bandar Abbas prison demanding money from prisoners

HRANA News Agency- Bandar Abbas Central prison officials demand money from inmates for repairs and decorating, and have threatened the prisoners that the prisoner who do not pay these amounts will be transferred to wards of the prisoner with HIV and Hepatitis.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Bandar Abbas Central prison officials demanded 100 thousand Tomans in two times from each of the prisoners in this prison for insulation and installing curtains in the wards.

One of the prisoners in ward 7 of Bandar Abbas central prison told HRANA’s reporter: “A few days ago, prison officials took 50 thousand Tomans from each of the detainees in this prison for insulation of the roof of prison”.

He added: “On Saturday 26th September, the guards stated that the prison’s warden, Mr. Abbas Morsalpour, ordered that every prisoner in ward 7 has to pay 50 thousand Tomans to replace the ward’s curtains”.

“Otherwise, anyone who does not pay the amount will be transferred to ward 10 which belongs to inmates with HIV and Hepatitis.” He said.

The source in another part of his talk, said: “They have asked money from other inmates of the prison for installing curtains.”
