Friday 09 January 2015No more Rap music concerts in Iran
http://www.examiner.com/article/no-more-rap-music-concerts-iran The Jerusalem Post reports that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not want any kind of influence from Rap concerts in their country. According to the report, spokesman for the Ministry of Culture and Islamic guidance, Hussein Noosh- Abbadi states, “this kind of Western music as a problem for our traditional music.” He goes on to say that Rap music, “encourages wild behavior” and then states that the music “could have a detrimental effect on society.” Rap music has been one of the favorite genres for decades around the world, but that doesn’t seem to move Noosh-Abbadi or the regime of the Islamic Republic. This decision may not sit well with Rap music lovers in Iran because they have an underground scene that includes the same genre that the country is trying to ban. Details aren’t clear on whether listening to the music will be banned, but in recent years, several Iranian Rap groups/bands have been arrested by the Islamic Republic’s regime and have not been permitted to hold concerts in the country. According to Jerusalem Post, public concerts are given the go ahead by the ministry which includes going through a bureaucratic process that could take months and months. It’s apparent that no future Rap concerts will be held in Iran. Iranian Hip Hop, also known as, Persian Hip Hop, developed in Iran but was heavily influenced by American Hip Hop. Contemporary Iranian music also plays a big part in their sound. |
