HRANA News Agency – Atena Dayemi, civil rights and children’s rights activist, is still being kept in solitary confinement after nearly three months. According to Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Atena Dayemi who was arrested on October 21, 2014 in her house and transferred to ward 2-A in Evin Prison which is controlled by IRGC, is still being kept in solitary confinement although the interrogation process has been finished. A close source to her, told HRANA’s reporter, “on the last visit with her family, she mentioned that she has been given requirement list that her family would provide for her, but she has refused to received it and instead she has asked to be released”. He continued, “her cell is full of insects which has caused problems for her skin and hair. Furthermore, Atena has food allergy and cannot eat all types of food that is provided for her. As a consequence she has chosen to starve”. This source added, “after informing the assistant prosecutor regarding these issues, he ordered for sending a physician and spraying the cell, but prison authorities did not have any cooperation and did not applied any of those orders.” Besides, prosecutor rejected to release her on bail and sent the case to branch number 28 of the revolutionary court. The judge has extended the temporary detention warrant and rejected to release her on bail as well”. The judge also has denied the attorney letter, and Atena has been deprived of her obvious basic right of having an attorney and there is no information regarding the trial date yet. |
