Thursday 29 January 2015Iran not to agree on nuclear deal at all cost
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman, Marzieh Afkham said Iran wants to reach a nuclear agreement as soon as possible, but not at all cost. "We will take any possible opportunity to continue and make progress in talks," she said, Iran's Fars News Agency reported Jan. 18. "Iran's deputy foreign ministers will hold a meeting with the representatives of Three European members of P5+1 group of countries in Istanbul on Jan. 29," she added. "The negotiating team will also hold separate bilateral meetings with each country's representatives, as well," Afkham noted. "The two sides have agreed on general issues and now we are discussing the details," she explained. According to the official, the gap between Iran and the P5+1 has been reduced, but the two sides still need comprehensive negotiations. "If the two sides show good will, reaching an agreement is possible," Afkham said. Iran and P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council comprising of China, France, Russia, Britain, the US plus Germany) sealed an interim deal in Geneva on November 24,2013 to pave the way for the full resolution of the decade-old dispute over the Islamic Republic's nuclear program. The Geneva deal took effect on January 20, 2014 and expired on July 20, 2014. However, the two sides agreed to extend their talks for four months till November 24, 2014 to reach a permanent deal on Iran's disputed nuclear program. At a meeting held on November 24, 2014, the sides agreed to extend the talks for further seven months, Kazinform refers to Trend.az. |
