No deal better than bad deal: Ayat. Khamenei

TEHRAN, Feb. 08 (MNA) – On anniversary of historic meeting of Air Force commanders with Imam Khomeini in 1979, Air Force commanders met with Ayatollah Khamenei.

Iran’s Leader, while stressing the role of Islamic Revolution in restoring Iran’s national honor and glory, said all officials have to work to save Iran’s power and honor.

Ayatollah Khamenei, meanwhile, pointed to the long history of US atrocities against Iran, asserting that US has been and is hostile to the core of Islamic Revolution and to Iranian nation.

Regarding the regional issues and crisis, he asserted that Americans have strategic faults in analyzing and understanding the regional issues, particularly Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei, noting the nuclear talks in progress in Munich, said: “US officials say no deal is better than a bad deal, I do agree. No deal is better than any deal which contradicts national interests.”

On regard to sanctions and their influence, the Leader added that “our negotiators are trying to thwart sanctions which the West is using as a weapon against Iranian nation. If they succeed, so much the better but if not there are other ways to make sanctions ineffective.”

He also urged the negotiation team to be careful to reach a detailed, precise and clear agreement and disagreed with a procedure of negotiations in which the two sides would initially reach a general nuclear agreement and working on the details later, as “our experience shows that the other side would abuse it as a pretext for raising new accusations against Iran. All general issues and details have to be decided upon in one single session,” he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei further stated that “Iran has ceased most of its activities to reach an agreement. This is logic of negotiation; however the other side seems to be intended to abuse it.”

“President Rouhani has correctly pointed to an important issue that ‘negotiation means reaching common points and decisions’. This means no side should expect all its expectations to realize in the deal,” the Leader concluded.
