HRANA News Agency – The ordered to remove the suspension of the Attorney license of Masood Shams Nejad, Class One Solicitor. According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), on Tuesday 3rd February, the court ordered to remove the suspension of the Attorney license of Masood Shams Nejad, Class One solicitor, as he has completed his criminal conviction, and he can continue his legal profession, from now on. An informed source in this regard told HRANA’s reporter, “The Police Court of Bar Association, ordered to remove the suspension, despite the pressure from the security agencies upon revocation of Shams Nejad’s Attorney licenses.” Masood Shams Nejad, lawyer, former lecturer of Azad University and Payam Noor University who was the representative of political prisoners who were sentenced to death, like; Habibullah Golparipoor, Ali Afshari and Razgar Afshari, was arrested on 9th May 2013 on charge of membership in opposition parties (Kurdish parties) and was transferred to detention center of Intelligence service headquarters of Urmia and later to the central prison of Urmia. On 12 June same year, this lawyer was released on bail of one million Tomans. Masood Shams Nejad was charged with two accusations; propaganda against the regime through interviews with overseas Kurdish media, publishing false articles and news, and also with membership in the opposition groups. Finally, on 18th May 2013, he was sentenced to 4 months imprisonment on charge of propaganda against the regime by branch 2 of Revolutionary Court in Urmia, presided by judge Sheikhlo, and was exonerated from membership in opposition groups. Branch 10 of the Appeal Court of West Azerbaijan Province approved the verdict in August 2013. He was summoned on 19th October to serve his 4 months imprisonment sentence, by Revolutionary Court in Urmia and from there was transferred to central prison of Urmia and eventually, on Monday morning, 12th January, when his 4 months imprisonment sentence was finished he was released. Once, this lawyer registered in parliamentary elections in 2011, but he was disqualified for alleged supporting Kurdish party. He once again in 2013, registered in Urmia city council elections and was rejected again. |
