According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Mr. Asakereh’s doctors transferred him to Tehran for further treatment, as they diagnosed a 92% first degree burn. A relative of Mr. Asakereh in a conversation with HRANA’s reporter described Younes Asakereh’s condition as “very serious”. According to what he said, after Mr. Asakereh’s stall was destroyed and before he attempted self-immolation, he had given numerous warnings to the relevant authorities, but unfortunately it was not taken seriously. This source added: “Younes had two sons and his deli stall was not bothering anyone, nor had blocked the pavements, it was just a source of income for a family of four.” About Mr. Asakereh’s family’s requests and demands, he said, “Improvement in his health is our only request.” Younes Asakereh, 32, from Khoramshahr, to protest the frequent harassment and destruction of his stall, on 13th March, in front of Town Hall of Khorramshahr, set himself in fire using a gallon of petrol. |
