Atena Farghdani’s New Trial Session Will Be Held Next Week

HRANA News Agency – The time of trial for alleged sub-adultery illicit relationship between Atena Farghdani and her lawyer Mohammad Moqimi was determined.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the time of the trial for alleged adultery illicit relationship between Atena Farghadani and her lawyer Mohammad Moqimi, which was made following the hand shake between this lawyer and his client, was determined.

Accordingly, it was decided that this trial would take place at Branch 1161 of Tehran General Court, on next Saturday at 10am. It should be noted that Hoshang Pourbabai will be Mohammad Moghimi’s barrister in this court.

This accusation had previously made Atena Farghadani go on hunger strike for 3 days to protest against this allegation and verbal abuse by the prison guards.

It is to say that mother of Atena Farghadani said this kind of manner is just because of a “false accusation” which is “illegal and illegitimate”, which led to her daughter’s persecution in prison.

Atena Farghadani, painter and civil activist, was accused with “sub-adultery illicit relationship”, on 13th June, when she had a visit with her lawyer, because of shaking his hand and her solicitor was also arrested and was transferred to Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj, which led to a large number of lawyers’ protest against this issue.

Ms. Farghadani, who has been held in prison since 10th January, has been sentenced to 12 years and 9 months imprisonment by court, which was preside by judge Salvati. Her charges were announced as; “insulting the MPs by painting”, “gathering and collusion against the national security”, “insulting the Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic”.

Last year, two months after being held in the Revolutionary Guards prison, Atena Farghadani had told the main issue in her interrogations was her critical paintings. She is now being held in the women’s ward of Evin prison.
