Moscow calm on Tehran’s missile program

Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb. 15

Trend:

Moscow is keeping calm with regard to Tehran’s missile program: there can’t be any objections against something that isn’t a subject to international restrictions, says Zamir Kabulov, Russian president’s special envoy for Afghanistan.

“Firstly, Iran’s missile program isn’t a subject to any restrictions,” RIA Novosti quoted Kabulov as saying Feb. 15. “That [missile program] is Iran’s right.”

“They don’t develop offensive weapons,” he noted, adding that on the other hand, various countries are threatening Iran.

“And they [Iran] have the right for self-defense,” he stressed.

Kabulov also claimed that the West demonstrates concern on the matter “for its own reasons”, adding that when the West needed to “wedge itself” in the Iranian market, it quickly forgot about all of these restrictions.

“So, this is hypocrisy in many cases,” noted the diplomat.
