Behnam Shaikhi Summoned To The Revolutionary Court

HRANA News Agency – The revolutionary court of Baharestan (rural of Tehran), has summoned Behnam Shaikhi, civil rights activist. Mr. Shaikhi will be tried on charge of acts against the national security.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Behnam Shaikhi Samanloo has to summit himself to court on March 10th, at 8 am in order to be tried in revolutionary court of Baharestan.

Behnam Shaikhi was arrested on March 5, 2014 in his workplace in Tehran and was transferred to ward 209 of Evin. After the end of the interrogations, he was transferred to ward number 8. He was released on 300 million thomans bail, after nearly 70 days in detention, on May 14, 2014.

Behnam Shaikhi had twice gone on hunger strike in protest to illegal detention and holding his case and him in limbo.

A close source to Mr. Shaikhi said, he had been arrested for his civil rights activities and was sentenced to imprisonment.

Behnam Shaikhi was arrested in Islamshahr in his workplace on June 9, 2009, and after being 55 days under detention in ward 209 of Evin prison, was released on 50 million thomans bail. He was charged with acts against the national security, propaganda against the regime and assembly of illegal gathering. He had a public court.

He was also arrested on October, 12, 2011, during the public protest to drying of Uremia Lake, in his house, in Golestan. After 25 days in Tabriz intelligent service detention, he was released on 50 million thomans bail. He was tried on May 18, 2012, in branch number one of Tabriz revolutionary court by judge Hamlbar. He was plead not guilty on acts against the national security and collusion, but the court found him guilty on the charge propaganda against the regime, and sentenced him to 6 months in prison.

This Turkish civil rights activist was also arrested on November 13, 2008, during the memorial ceremony for Sattar Khan, in Shahr-e-Rey, and in June 2006, during mass demonstrations and protests of Turkish citizens to an insulting cartoon, published in Iran newspaper.
