Aliakbar Baghani Released from Rajai Shahr Prison

HRANA News Agency – Aliakbar Baghani, imprisoned teacher and vice President of the Teachers Union was released on the bail from Rajaee Shahr prison on March 21, 2016. This trade unionist, by the end of the sentence, according to the public prosecutor of Tehran will be on a short term furlough on the bail until he will be sent to the exile to the city of Zabol.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Aliakbar Baghani, general secretary of the Iranian Teacher Union had been sentenced to one year imprisonment and 10 years in exile to Zabol city in relation to his case in 2010 on charge of propaganda against the state by branch 26 of the revolutionary court headed by Judge Pirabbasi and was released on the bail from Rajaee Shahr prison on March 21, 2016. This trade unionist, by the end of the sentence must go to exile, in Zabol city after a short break.

Aliakbar Baghani, general secretary of the Iranian Teachers Union was arrested after attending the court of Evin Prison on May 25, 2015 and was transferred to Rajai Shahr prison.

It is noteworthy that in 2010, after the central council meeting, Mr. Ismail Abdi, in the education department of Islamshahr and Mahmoud Beheshti Langroodi and Aliakbar Baghani in Tehran were arrested and sent to detention in ward 209 of Evin prison, each one were held in solitary in ward 209 of Evin prison about two months and then were released on heavy bails.

His previous conviction for the teachers’ protest in front of the Parliament in 2010 which was 5 years suspended sentence, was turned to 5 years imprisonment by the appeal court and he must serve six years in prison and 10 years of exile to Zabol city.
