The Latest Status of Mohammad Ali Taheri’s Case

HRANA News Agency – Mohammad Ali Taheri, founder of the cosmic mysticism in Iran, is held in Evin prison on different charges since 2011. His lawyer announced in an interview with HRANA that his client's 9 billion IRR fine was paid and requested the application of Article 134 for him. He believes the possibility of changing the detention to bail, becomes more serious by this action.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Mohammad Ali Taheri, founder of the cosmic mysticism in Iran, is held in Evin prison on different charges since 2011. Recently he faced another case at the end of his previous sentence and according to his lawyer his detention was extended for failing to pay a fine of 9 billion IRR.

Seyed Mahmoud Alizadeh Tabatabaei, Mr. Taheri's lawyer said in an interview with HRANA's reporter: "On April 20, 2016 my client, Mr. Mohammad Ali Taheri's total amount of fine from the verdict of 2011 was deposited to the account of the justice department."

He continued by stating that the verdict was unfair and out of religious rules and the law, stipulated that: "The reason of to deposit the money was to prevent his continued detention after almost six years in prison, mostly in solitary confinement, because the prosecutor and the judge, mainly stated verbally that the reason for the renewal of the detention order was the non-payment of fines."

Mr. Alizadeh noted: "My colleagues and I demand applying Article 134 of the Penal Code and the law from appeals court and we look forward to its adoption of the Court, but to prevent the continuation of unfair detention of my client and accelerate the conversion of the warrant, the fine was paid and its receipt will be attach to the bill to be submitted to the court."

Mohammad Ali Taheri, founder of the cosmic mysticism in Iran, was arrested on 4th May 2011 and on charges of "blasphemy", "unlawful intervention in the affairs of health and medical treatments", "unlawful act of adultery", "unauthorized use of academic titles doctor and engineer" and "subversive of books and works", was sentenced to five years imprisonment and a 9 billion IRR fine and 74 lashes, by the Revolutionary Court

He is also charged with corruption on earth through distracting people.

Despite the end of his imprisonment, authorities have refused to release him by extending his detention order.
