2006 Thursday 23 NovemberSuicide of a soldier assigned to prison dutyIran Press News: The Baztab defense website reported: On Saturday, November 18th, a soldier who had been assigned to Marvdasht prison [in the province of Pars], committed suicide by shooting himself 5 times in the head. It is said that the soldiers, after a spending a week on the job as prison guard, reported on the deplorable conditions of said prison that lead to a probe of the premises by a board of inspectors of prisons; the report gleaned no results and as such the psychological pressure on the guard was so much that it led to him committ suicide. Various deputies of the prisons and some military officials were a part of the board of inspectors who after receiving numerous complaints from military officers regarding conditions in prisons, had agreed to an inspection of the Marvdasht prison. |
