The Olympic council of Asia warns the Islamic republic

Iran Press News: The Olympic council of Asia warned the Islamic republic that if the Iranian athletes continue to have religious slogans printed on their uniforms and sports costumes, they will be heavily fined. In sports events religious slogans have been prohibited.

According to AFP, Hussein Al-Muslim, director-generalof the Olympic council of Asia in regard to this matter said: “We have issued strong warnings regarding the non-use of slogans to the Olympic committee of the Islamic Republic.” He warned that the athletes who insist on using slogans must realize that they will either be banned from the tournaments or face heavy fines.

Al-Muslim added: “We have issued a warning to all the member countries of Olympic council of Asia about the use of religious slogans which is against our bylaws.” Al-Muslim’s words were confirmed by the President of the OCA, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The most famous athlete from Iran who plasters such slogans on his sports costume, is Hossein Rezazadeh who is championship title holder in two Olympics and world record holder in weight lifting who in Doha’s Asian Games won the gold medal. Rezazadeh is accustomed to plastering the name of “Abolfazl” (a term of endearment for Imam Hossein) on his costume and kisses the name which is engraved on the bottom of the flag of the Islamic republic.
