The ministry of Islamic culture and guidance to make a film about Hugo Chavez!

Iran Press News: The regime-run site Asr’eh Iran reported: Mohammad Reza Akbary, director of the film "Hugo Chavez" who a while back had traveled to Venezuela for shooting this film, penned a letter to both the president of Iran and the president of Venezuela in order to communicate the various problems that occurred.

In this letter of protest Akbary writes: “Nearly a year has passed since my quest to make the documentary film “Hugo Chavez” which was produced by the center for documentary and experimental cinema, in collaboration with the audio-visual sector of the ministry of Islamic culture and guidance.

During this period we were granted cooperation and support from the president of the Islamic republic and the embassy of Venezuela, as well as the exchange of letters with the public relations office of the ministry of foreign affairs of Latin America, etc. They have all emphasized the importance of this project in the political and cultural institutions of our two countries.

At present, I have spent a year working in Tehran and 37 very intensive days in Caracas; it has been a difficult experience, as I was left to chase after subsequent funds which had been promised to me by the Islamic Republic for the project.

A film which could have further benefited relations between the Islamic Republic and Venezuela, is left unfinished and now I have no recourse but to return to Tehran. This half-finished project is a waste of the country's capital which must take a toll on the public conscience as well, but apparently no one even in their privacy suffers a bit or has pangs of conscience.”
