Shahrzadnews:A new film by acclaimed Iranian film director Marjan Satrapi is to be released in October. Based on the book of the same name which Satrapi wrote in 2004, Chicken with Plums was co-directed with Vincent Paronnaud.
Like Satrapi’s previous blockbuster Presepolis, the film is animated. The voice of Iran’s leading actress Golshifteh Farahani is featured, along with those of various French, Italian and American actors.
The tragi-comic film depicts the last seven days in the life of Satrapi's uncle Nasser Ali Khan, a revered fifties tar player. A woman who does not recognize his talent has irreparably damaged his beloved instrument, and try as he might, he cannot find a replacement that speaks to him with the same power and passion. In despair, he tries to kill himself. The story is told through flashbacks in which the lead character recalls the dreams he had for himself and his children.
