Son of Sunni Imam transferred to prison after 3 months solitary

HRANA News Agency – The son of a Sunni Imam has been transferred to prison after three months of detention in solitary confinement in a Ministry of Intelligence detention center in Iran.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), 21-year old Hafiz Mohammad Darabi, the son of a Sunni Imam, was transferred yesterday to Diezel Abad prison in Kermanshah, northwest Iran.

He had been detained in solitary confinement in the Ministry of Intelligence detention center in Kermanshah for more than three months since his arrest in June earlier this year.

Sources say he was subjected to ‘severe interrogations’ whilst held in solitary confinement.

He is facing charges of ‘spreading propaganda against the regime’, and is expected to face trial in Iran’s notorious Revolutionary Court.

Hafiz Mohammad Darabi is the son of Shaykh Hossein Darabi, a Sunni scholar and Imam for Rejaw in Kermanshah, northwestern Iran.

He was active in Sunni religious activities and was involved in religious work. He was arrested in June, along with his friend Vahid Darabi, in the majority-Sunni city of Zahedan, after travelling there to meet Sunni scholars.
