Saeid Matinpoor transferred to Zanjan prison

HRANA News Agency – Saeid Matinpoor, political prisoner of Evin prison, was transferred to central prison of Zanjan on Sunday.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Saeid Matinpoor, political prisoner was transferred from Evin prison to Zanjan prison on Sunday, September 28th.

An informed source told HRANA’s reporter, “He could talk with his family via phone, on Tuesday”.

Saeis Matinpoor was arrested in Zanjan on May 15, 2007 and after 278 days in temporary arrest he was released from Evin prison on a 500 million Tomans bail, on February 26, 2009.

The journalist charged with having contact with foreigners and propaganda against the regime, and was sentenced to 8 years in prison by branch number 15 of revolutionary court.

The appeal court of Tehran province confirmed the eight years in prison sentence, on November 29, 2009.

Matinpoor is graduated from university of Tehran in philosophy major and was staff member of weeklies Yarpagh and Mouj-e-bidari.

Besides, he is a blogger and civil rights activist. He has been charged with allegations like having contact with foreigners because of having a trip to Turkey.
